Woodside to study Shell floating LNG technology
In a statement, Woodside CEO Peter Coleman said he now agreed that floating LNG could be the quickest way to develop Browse, which contains an estimated 15.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Shell says its floating LNG technology is the fastest and most economic way to develop Browse.
CB&I licenses process technology for new China acid alkylation project
The alkylation unit, the first of its kind in China, will use the AlkyClean process technology partnered by CB&I's technology operating group, Albemarle and Neste Oil. It is expected to be capable of producing 100,000 tpy of alkylate. The project is scheduled for startup in early 2014.
MAN to supply compressor technology for Chinese synthetic fuels project
The site of the project is Yinchuan in the Ningxia region, where air separation plants are being built under the management of Linde and Hangyang for one of the world’s largest coal liquefaction production plants. The turbomachinery ordered will be used in one of the air separation plants.

India's natural gas importers are fast sealing deals to secure supplies as demand far exceeds domestic output. The nation currently produces about three-quarters of its natural-gas requirements, but will need to import nearly half of its requirements within a few years due to dwindling production.
Shell, ONGC discuss Indian oil, gas opportunities
Executives at ONGC said they were in the process of agreeing to a long-term alliance with Shell to jointly explore oil and gas production. In India, Shell currently has a small retail presence and is involved in developing a liquefied natural gas import and regasification terminal at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.
China successfully tests first flight using Sinopec's new aviation biofuel
A China Eastern Airlines Corp. passenger airplane took off from an airport in Shanghai and traveled for about 90 minutes using the fuel, which is made from palm oil and restaurant oil, Sinopec said in a news release. Sinopec added that the fuel was certified by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
Woodside sees high demand for spot LNG cargoes
Woodside Petroleum CEO Peter Coleman doesn't see any major softening in LNG demand as buyers anticipate future supply increases from North America and East Africa. Demand for LNG is "very strong, particularly for spot cargoes and we expect that demand to maintain strength [in coming years]," he said.

The new plant significantly expands Momentive’s production of acrylic-based resins in the region. The site, located in the Pinthong Industrial Estate Park, is capable of producing the latest generation of acrylic resins designed for use primarily in coatings, adhesives, and building and construction applications.
Global diesel prices likely to weaken in 2014 with startup of Jubail refinery
In product markets, the new refinery will add to the supply of clean diesel in Saudi Arabia and Europe -- markets typically supplied by India. Since Indian refiners export diesel to so many markets, the appearance of this competing supply source may have bearish consequences for global diesel prices.
