Global liquid fuels demand seen rising 0.9%/yr - EIA
Global liquid-fuels demand is expected to rise by 0.9% between 2010 and 2035, to 109.5 million bpd, with the world becoming more reliant on OPEC oil, according to a new US government forecast released on Monday. OPEC's share of world demand will rise to 41.9% in 2035 from 39.7% in 2010.
KBR awarded pre-FEED studies for offshore FLNG projects in Israel, Australia
KBR was selected as Höegh’s preferred engineer for pre-FEED studies on two projects off the coast of Israel and offshore Australia. Both projects will be performed in KBR’s operating center in London, utilizing the company’s FLNG engineering capability spread over the London, Houston and Perth offices.
Japan hopes to secure deal for US exports of LNG
Japan officials are hopeful that an accord can be reached with the US to secure LNG exports. US authorities in April granted approval for the first LNG exports in more than 40 years from a site on Louisiana coast, in a decision that is expected to pave the way for a major shift in global gas markets.
Linde to expand nitrogen, oxygen facility in Oregon
Linde will expand its facility in Hillsboro, Oregon, by adding an additional plant to manufacture ultra-high purity nitrogen and oxygen, the company said Wednesday. The new plant adds to the two existing ultra-high purity nitrogen and oxygen plants already operating at the site.
Air Products buys majority stake in Chile industrial gases firm Indura
The deal is expected to close by early July, subject to certain closing conditions. By taking a majority stake in Indura, Air Products will extend its Latin American presence to 12 countries, which it says will enable the company to benefit from greater economies of scale and a large talent pool.
Korea Gas eyes US shale plays, targets LNG project
The state-run gas developer and supplier, known as Kogas, "will actively seek opportunities to buy good [shale-gas] assets' and will open its first US-based office in Houston by next month, Park Young-sung, executive vice president of the Resources Business Division, said in a weekend interview.
DCP to buy PVR gas processing plant in east Texas
The Crossroads gas processing system, located in Harrison county in East Texas, includes 8 miles of gas gathering pipe, an 80 million cubic feet per day cryogenic processing plant, about 20 miles of NGL pipeline and a 50% ownership in an approximately 11-mile residue gas pipeline.
Shell to spend $1.6bn on LNG import, regasification terminal in Philippines
Shell will develop an LNG import and re-gasification terminal in the Philippines, members of the UK government confirmed. Shell is already the largest foreign investor in the Philippines at over $5 billion.
Shell aims to sell LNG fuel at US truck stops in 2013
Shell signed a memorandum of understanding with TravelCenters of America (TA) to sell liquefied natural gas (LNG) to heavy-duty truckers through TA's existing network of stations. If a final agreement is reached, the first of the LNG fuel lanes are expected to become operational in 2013.
ABB to supply automation, safety systems on Botas gas compressors in Turkey
Automation technology group ABB was awarded a contract to supply automation and safety systems, electrical equipment and related services for a new gas compression station that will serve a natural gas pipeline that runs across northern Turkey. Financial terms were not disclosed.
