Mitsubishi, Notore form joint venture for ammonia, urea complex in Nigeria

Notore Chemical Industries has signed a joint venture agreement with Japan-based Mitsubishi to develop an ammonia, urea and other petrochemicals plant at its existing facility at Onne, Rivers State, Nigeria. The new plant, built on a brownfield site, is expected to come on-stream in 2016.

Amor signs process control pact with Aera Energy

Aera Energy, a California-based oil and gas producer, has selected Amor Group to review and enhance the security of its various process control systems. Under the deal, Amor will provide an in-depth review of Aera’s security policy and procedures through its ProcessSecurity+ offering.

Alfa Laval to supply heat exchangers for Morocco fertilizer producer

Heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling company Alfa Laval has won an order to supply Alfa Laval plate heat exchangers to a fertilizer producer in Morocco. Delivery is scheduled to start during 2012 and be finalized in 2014. The plate heat exchangers will be used in a cooling process.

Shell awards engineering pact to Kvaerner for gas processing plant in Norway

Shell has awarded Kvaerner with an EPCm deal for modifications and projects at its Ormen Lange/Nyhamna onshore facilities on the west coast of Norway. The Nyhamna gas plant processes natural gas from the Ormen Lange gas field located in the Møre Basin in the southern part of the Norwegian Sea.

Statoil sells fuel, retail unit, turns focus to upstream

Statoil joins a long string of oil majors offloading their retail holdings and leaving a challenging market where profits are pressured by high crude oil prices. The deal will give Canadian buyer Alimentation Couche-Tard around 2,300 fuel stations across Scandinavia, Poland, the Baltics and Russia.

UOP, Ensyn venture wins sustainable biofuel award for conversion technology

Envergent Technologies, a joint venture of UOP and Ensyn, has been given an award in the category of sustainable biofuels for its contributions toward sustainable biopower generation facilities. Envergent’s RTP technology is currently in use in seven commercial biomass processing plants in the US and Canada.

SABIC picks Jacobs for engineering on Netherlands olefins cracker upgrade

Jacobs has been awarded a contract from SABIC to provide engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) services to support the upgrade of an olefins at SABIC's complex in Geleen, The Netherlands. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2013.

BP awards engineering deal for Rotterdam refinery FCC shutdown to Jacobs

BP has chosen Jacobs to provide engineering and procurement services, as well as engineering assistance during construction, commissioning and startup, for a major shutdown of the fluid catalytic cracker at its Rotterdam refinery in The Netherlands. The Rotterdam facility has 400,000 bpd of capacity.

Huntsman to expand polyurethane catalyst output at Hungary, Spain sites

The performance products division of Huntsman will expand manufacturing capacity of specialty amines used as polyurethane catalysts at manufacturing facilities in Petfurdo, Hungary and in Barcelona, Spain. Financial details of the expansion, which will increase outut by 25%, were not disclosed.
