US sees lower 2011 oil use, becomes net exporter
US oil demand in all of 2011 dropped 1.8%, or by 345,000 bpd, from 2010 to a two-year low of 18.835 million bpd, government data released Wednesday show. US oil output climbed 7.4% to 5.877 million bpd, the highest level since 1999.

US January petroleum demand falls from 2011 on lower heating oil use - API
Total petroleum deliveries (a measure of demand) fell 5.7% this January compared with January 2011 to just over 18 million bpd, according to monthly data from the American Petroleum Institute (API). The slide in heating fuel demand reflects January’s relatively warm temperatures, the group said.
Husky building new hydrotreater at Ohio refinery
Husky Energy has begun construction on a new 20,000 bpd kerosene hydrotreater at its refinery in Lima, Ohio. The hydrotreater should help the company increase jet fuel production. The refinery has a capacity of 155,000 bpd, making it the 48th-largest in the US.

UOP technology chosen for diesel, lube production at Pakistan refinery expansion
Honeywell’s UOP says that its new process technology designed to help refiners get more product from each crude barrel has been selected by National Refinery Limited (NRL) to maximize diesel and lubricant production in Pakistan. The facility will produce 40,000 bpd of diesel fuel and 4,500 bpd of lube base oils.
