Alternative energy research park to be built in Colorado
On March 16, the Weld County Commissioners in Colorado unanimously approved Harrison Resource Corp.’s plans for development of Niobrara Energy Park, a 640-acre project that will integrate natural gas and renewable energy generation facilities, including solar and wind energy, with data centers and energy research. With zoning approvals in place, the greenfield project is now process-shovel-ready.

PetroAlgae partners with Haldor Topsoe for renewable fuels based on biomass
PetroAlgae Inc. announced that it has entered into an agreement with Haldor Topsoe and its US subsidiary, Haldor Topsoe, Inc., to provide technology and catalysts to upgrade oils produced from Petroalgae’s biomass through refinery coking processes and pyrolysis into drop-in renewable fuels, including diesel and jet fuels.

Hydrocarbon Processing’s Boxscore Database has complied data indicating that with a total of 28 oil refineries, Japan is the second largest refining country after China in the Asia-Pacific region.
KiOR signs offtake agreement with Hunt Refining for renewables
KiOR has signed an offtake agreement with Hunt Refining. Hunt has agreed to purchase renewable gasoline and diesel blendstocks and fuel oil produced at KiOR’s first commercial facility to be located in Columbus, Mississippi. In addition to the offtake of renewable fuel blendstocks, the two companies have agreed to collaborate on information and resources aimed at optimizing the performance of their products and services.

Neste Oil to increase its use of waste in renewable diesel production
Neste Oil is to increase its use of waste as a raw material for producing NExBTL renewable diesel in 2011. Palm oil will continue to be the single largest raw material input, and is expected to account for just under half of the total raw material used in renewable diesel production in 2011.
