Aether Fuels secures $15 MM to decarbonize aviation’s global impact

Aether Fuels, a sustainable fuels technology company, has secured $15 MM in funding to accelerate its recently announced commercial-scale sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant in Singapore, Project Beacon, which will produce up to 2,000 tpy of CORISA-certified fuel by 2028, with an expected 70% reduction in lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions versus conventional jet fuel. This brings the company to a figure exceeding $60 MM in funding raised since 2022.

With SAF mandates across the globe scaling up, and demand exceeding supply, this funding will further accelerate the scale up of Aether’s Aurora™ breakthrough technology, which broadens the feedstock pool beyond waste oils and fasts (HEFA), the predominant means to produce sustainable fuels, to include waste carbon streams from forestry, agricultural and industrial sites.

Its process converts waste carbon, such as biogas, captured CO2, industrial waste gases, gasified waste biomass, and gasified municipal solid waste, into drop-in liquid fuels with near-ideal carbon conversion efficiency.

New investors Aster Ventures (deep tech arm of Aster) and EDBI, the investment arm of SG Growth Capital, join a group of existing investors AP Ventures, Xora Innovation, CDP Venture Capital, TechEnergy Ventures, Foothill Ventures, Eni Next, and Chevron Technology Ventures.
