Magnon, ErasmusP2X and Power2X launch e-methanol project with future H2 backbone connection
Magnon, ErasmusP2X, and Power2X are partnering on a pioneering e-methanol production project in Puertollano, Spain, which will be integrated into the future Spanish Hydrogen Trunk Network managed by Enagás, recently designated as the provisional Hydrogen Transport Network Operator (HTNO) under Royal Decree Law 8/2023.
Magnon will provide biogenic CO₂ from its biomass plant, while ErasmusP2X and Power2X will supply green hydrogen produced at their 1-GW solar-powered facility in Saceruela. The project aims to produce 200,000 tpy of e-methanol and is designed to support Spain’s ambition to become a European hub for green molecules.
This initiative promotes a sustainable value chain by combining biomass, carbon capture, and green hydrogen, boosting local employment, economic growth, and energy innovation. It will also play a key role in decarbonization and reducing reliance on fossil fuels by supporting the production of renewable fuels, chemicals, and plastics.
