Toyo awarded revamp contract for gas-chemical complex in Turkmenistan
Toyo Engineering Corporation, in collaboration with Ronesans, a major general construction company and subsidiary of Rönesans Holding, headquartered in Turkey, has received an order from Turkmenhimiya, a state-owned company responsible for the production and sale of chemicals in Turkmenistan, for the first phase of a large-scale renovation project for Turkmenhimiya's large gas chemical complex.
Since its founding in 1961, TOYO has been involved in projects in the CIS region and neighboring countries, and has constructed 46 petrochemical and fertilizer plants in the region. In Turkmenistan, TOYO has a track record of constructing the Kiyanly Polymer Plant in Turkmenbashi, Balkan Province in 2018, which includes gas separation facilities and ethylene, polypropylene, and high-density polyethylene production facilities. In August 2024, TOYO signed an agreement to cooperate toward realizing future investment projects, mainly gas-related projects planned by Turkmenhimiya, and this order marks the first project under that agreement.
This order was awarded after continuous discussions between TOYO and Turkmenhimiya together with consortium partner Renaissance. TOYO will be responsible for the detailed planning, design and partial procurement of equipment and materials for the large-scale plant renovation, including the gas separation facility, ethylene production facility and polypropylene production facility, while Renaissance will be responsible for the high-density polyethylene production facility and utility facilities. Turkmenhimiya is also considering moving forward with the next phase together with TOYO and Renaissance.
Starting with this order, TOYO will actively cooperate on other future projects in Turkmenistan, leveraging the experience and knowledge it has cultivated in constructing gas chemical and fertilizer plants, thereby contributing to the development of the country's chemical industry.
