On September 27, 2016, the Government of Canada approved Pacific Northwest LNG’s Environmental Impact Statement, subject to 190 conditions. The conditions include a variety of items such as additional modeling of the proposed marine infrastructure, ongoing fish studies and marine mammal observation programs, as well as implementing mitigation measures during construction such as bubble curtains and vibratory pile driving.
In its review of our project the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) identified two areas where the project was likely to cause significant adverse effects; these were in the area of greenhouse gas emissions and harbor porpoises. Pacific NorthWest LNG is committed to addressing both of these concerns.
