ExxonMobil Corp. plans to add
10 Mbpd of diesel and jet fuel production capacity at its Altona refinery in Melbourne,
Australia, enlarging the plant to 90 Mbpd.
The additional supplies will be
absorbed by the Australian market.
The expansion is slated for
completion in 2017. In addition to increased fuels production, it will improve
the energy efficiency of the facility by recovering waste heat.
The company said the expansion
would help enhance its competitive position.
ExxonMobil's primary competitor
in the Australian market is Viva Energy Australia, which operates the 120-Mbpd
Geelong refinery near Melbourne.
