Sunoco Logistics Partners is cleaning up about 550 bbl of oil that spilled from its pipeline in east Texas, the company said Wednesday.
The oil leaked out of the pipeline Saturday into Otter Creek in Tyler County, Sunoco Logistics said.
The oil did not reach the Neches River, which is connected to the creek, Tyler County Emergency Management Coordinator Dale Freeeman said.
"Containment and cleanup operations are underway," a Sunoco Logistics spokesman said.
The cause of the spill was being investigated.
The leak occurred about 3.5 miles east of Chester, Texas, according to reports. Chester is 110 miles northeast of Houston.
