Technip awarded €100mn EPC contract for Canada oil sands project
France-based Technip said it has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) support contract worth approximately 100mn for the Horizon oil sands project in Fort McMurray, Canada.
The contract was given by Canadian Natural Resources Ltd.
The deal covers the expansion of the existing delayed coking unit, completed by Technip in 2008. It confirms Technips leading position in the refining of non-conventional hydrocarbons such as refining bitumen, the company said.
Technip's operating center in Rome, Italy, will execute the contract, which is scheduled to be completed in 2013.
Detail engineering, procurement and supply of materials and equipment will be delivered on a lump sum basis, while the construction management will be charged on a reimbursable basis, officials said.
